Finally, from here on fore, I’m officially "licensed to drive"!
I couldn’t really sleep the night before and I woke up relevantly early in the morning. I haven’t been behind the wheel for practically 3 months, I’m not sure if I still remember the technique to park.
During the warm up session, I felt I did pretty badly. Most of my turns were mere luck. As I sat in the waiting room, waiting for the tester to call my name, I felt my heart about to jump out of my chest. I’m not nervous about driving. I was just a little afraid that I might fail. And I really DO NOT WANT TO FAIL!
Finally when my name was called, and the test began shortly after. Amazingly, the test took shorter than I expected. When arriving back at the center, I think I did pretty well, definitely better than the warm up session. I followed the tester to the second floor for my evaluation. The moment we sat down, he started pouring out my mistakes. The more the said, the lower my moral went. Finally, when he reached the last page, which would indicate if I pass or fail, he ticked PASSED!
I kept holding back my smile. If I hadn’t, I’d probably over do on the smiling, and people might think I went mad or something. I couldn’t wait to tell my dear about it, he was the first person I thought of at the moment as I held the results in my hands.
After messaging my dear, I started messaging everyone else that I can think of. I was just too happy.
All of a sudden I felt lost in my tracks. Was I supposed to go watch the short video first or pay at the cashier? I decided to check out the video first. I was then told that I should first, submit my results, and close my account with the center. That was when I realized, I was the first to complete the test and the second was no where in sight. The test was suppose to end roughly at 12.45pm, but I was back at the center round 12.20pm. I had another 25mins more before the video started. With the time, I went to get my passport size photo taken, than made my way back to the room to watch the video.
After making payment at the counter, I got a receipt that wrote “You can drive while awaiting the delivery of your photo-card driving license”. Let me repeat myself for the last time, I PASSED!!!
After I left the center, I’m not sure where I was going to head to for the rest of the day. My dear wasn’t going to be home till late at night, he had to work late cause of Chinese New Year. Surprisingly, Seany suggested meeting up, so we did. Another shocker was that Ling was actually a clubber, and she was heading to Devil’s Bar tonight, and invited me along.
Meeting Seany was still within possible acceptance for my dear, I guess. But clubbing, I doubt so. I kinda said I wouldn’t club without him. I decided if Sherlin was to go along, probably I had a higher chance of not making it look so bad. Unfortunately, she had plans tonight, so I had to call the whole thing off.
From Ubi Comfort Driving Center, I had no idea how to catch a ride to anywhere. I simply took any bus that came and alighted at its last stop, which fortunately for me was Hougang Interchange that had a MRT Station. My next vocation was Dhoby Ghaut, Plaza Singapura. I made arrangements to meet Sean there after the approval given by my dear, of cause.
In the meantime, I went to 2nd floor, StarHub Customer Service, and change my SIM card to 3G. The day before I bought a new handphone with my dear, N70, and it had the function 3G. Might as well make the best out of it right?
Oh yes, I SMSed David to see if he wanted to meet for dinner. I didn’t want to have dinner alone, and it didn’t seem like a good idea to meet up anymore of my friends for dinner. I mean, I don’t want my dear to have the idea that I miss hanging out with my friends or anything, though I do a little. Meeting his friend would seem like I was really trying to get along with his circle of friends. The idea didn’t go as smoothly as I hoped it would have, David said he would get back to me, but he didn’t.
See, I already tried to make the effort in getting to know David and Sherlin more, but it’s not going well. So mind me, I tried, I failed, end of story. It takes 2 hands to clap.
Just an overview of the highlights for the day, changed my SIM card, met up with Seany, had my hair cut, and last of all, headed down to Boat Quay to get my pay.
There goes my celebration for getting my license.
