What kind of superior would you like to have after coming out to society to work?

My Ans.: Someone that I can respect and learn from.

Unfortunately, after working for more then a month at my current workplace, it has turned out to be an extreme disappointment.

I respect my boss, Patrick, though I don't really know what makes him tick. I respect my boss's boss, Michael, with the least amount of words he brings out the most indept meaning. I respect the Sales Team, Amy, Raymond and Ivan, they're always willing to put in extra effort to guide me along the way and share their experience. I respect the Consultants, Sam and etc, they enhance my knowledge on the product, give me more information to read up on, even though they need not. I respect the System Admin., Stanley, always around to help everyone. They're all great! Helps me with stuff, helps me to understand better, and even lets me whine once in a while.

However, I CANNOT bring myself to respect my superior (don't need to bother mentioning his name). He throws me with stuff to read and expects me to understand, give brief instructions that are somewhat like no instructions at all, doesn't plan things, doesn't ask relevant questions during meetings leaving us confused, things he don't know how to do he pushes it to me and expects it to be done immediately without giving me any resources, gives an attitude when I seek assistance from others because he isn't willing to help just expects me to know, and LOTS MORE! The worst is that he behaves like a CLOWN regardless who is around (apart from Patrick), says ridiculous stuff thinking it's intelligent. I feel absolutely small whenever he does something like that.

He's my superior, someone whom is suppose to coach me along the way, but instead, he embarrasses me whenever he gets the chance.

Working at ObTech has been a great experience. I love the people here so very much. I've learnt that whatever field you go into, it all begins with taking the first step, and making the first call. Sad to say, I have to work under someone who isn't willing (or maybe able) to further enhance my knowledge, tries all means to embarrass me, not willing to try out something new, and not willing to give anyone a chance.

If he is to be found at one end of the world, please put me at the other.

Hopefully I'll be able to learn something through the upcoming Chemical Seminar, before I leave the company. At least it's an additional experience. I wish I need not have to leave, but looking at things, my superior isn't going to let me gain more experience and try out something new. The last email he sent out, and forwarding to an external source (who isn't within ObTech) has proven he wants to whole world to know how pathetically low my position is and I'm not to give suggestions but just carry out his orders.
