Sometimes I really don't understand.

Usually you'd get affect by things or people that hold a certain value, and not things or people that hold no value whatsoever. That should be the way things are. In fact, that's IS the way things are.

If you get affect by something or someone, you should really consider the reason behind it. There's a high chance the reason is because it/he/she still holds a certain value to you.

So, if you insist that "it's the past", "it's something you want to forget" and move on. Then, why are you affected? You shouldn't.

Hating something or someone still adds a value to the item or person, but hate itself only brings harm and not a cure. If you thing this thing or person doesn't deserve any value and want nothing to do with it/him/her. Hate shouldn't exist either.

No one is a saint, but why allow yourself to be tormented by something or someone of no value?

The route to enlightenment (and finding peace) is to simply forsake all, be it love or hate.
