To be honest, I've never taken a personal loan before, then again, I'm only in my early 20s, and thus loans aren't exactly something I should consider yet. However, I have taken up a car loan and I do know a couple of friends that took up study loans to pay off for their education.

For my friends, what I can say is, at the initial point when the loan was taken up it was a "have-to" situation. But I can tell that at this point, after their studies, when their out in the working society, the pay-back is kinda hard on them. Quite a large portion of their monthly salary is stripped from them to pay off these debts, and this will be ongoing for the next couple of years.

Nevertheless, there are two faces to a coin. If they hadn't done so, there's a high possibility that they had to drop out of school at that point. Without a good certification in this harsh society, it would have been even tougher for them to find a reasonable job. Though they would have to suffer for the next couple of years, but if they pull through, it would be smooth sailing ahead.

As for my car loan, to be honest, I feel a little regret. Though the loan is quite low and the monthly installment is still affordable, but my other fixed monthly expenditure is killing me. If I hadn't taken up that loan, I might have more cash in hand to pay around with.

Well, what I can conclude about loans is that, if there is a real "NEED" then by all means, go ahead. But if you're like me, and taking up a loan for the sake of a "WANT" then do think twice.
