I'm just wondering. Do any of you guys know exactly how long an average Singaporean spends queuing up?

ethan says: 4 hrs per day for donuts
ethan says: 2 days for donuts

I'm assuming he's pulling my leg. He has to be. Or is he?

ethan says:

i did an event last time.. gt ppl queued several times to win a goodie bag
there were 7 stations
each station queue 15 mins. 7 x 15 = 105. at the end... u win a plastic water bottle
1 family actually had the whole group of family members to take part

- Ping.sg's "shout box"

Hmmm... By any chance, were gold in the, goodie bags? If so, sign me up for the next queue!

* Cold wind blows by... *

Geez. I seem to constantly go off topic. Something is most definitely wrong with my focus.

Pardon me, let's get back on track.

Ah yes, I was about to say...

I recall watching a commercial that says an average Singaporean spends about, what was it, 2 or 3 years queuing up? Well, I believe "these people" spend more a hell lot more, 'cause they aren't exactly the average, patient, Singaporeans.

Who are "these people" I'm referring to? If you really want to know, I urge you to read on!

Along the years, I've noticed that Singapore's news media development has improved tremendously. They are somewhat more efficient in providing is with the most updated news in Singapore, as well as, around the world.

I was watching the 9.30pm news on TV5 yesterday (it's way past mid night, so yes it's "yesterday's news"), and something, somewhat, caught my attention.

Can you picture yourself, queuing from 7am in the morning all the way to... Erm... I'm not sure if they actually mention the time "she" queued till, I probably wasn't paying enough attention. Anyway, I'm assume it was at least mid afternoon?

P/s: I can get the queuing part, but what's with the tears? Geez.

Okay, I know it's a stupid question. The answer is quite clear isn't it?

Example 1:

During the first Singapore Idol "release", hundreds and/or even thousands queued up at Suntec City, overnight! So what is 7am in the morning, right?

Example 2:

Remember the "Hello Kitty Craze" at MacDonald's, years back? MANY queued overnight for the, perhaps FAKE, Hello Kitty Dolls! And the whole craze got so bad it became a topic of highlight! - This simply puts "7am in the morning" to shame.

FYI: I'm a Hello Kitty fanatic and I have the full MacDonald fake Hello Kitty set. Two sets in fact. But no, I didn't queue, I have slaves I mean dumb "people" to do it for me. They don't read my blog, at least I don't think so, so I don't think I will have a pig head hanged outside my house tomorrow.

My point is...

Are we, Singaporeans, really so desperate to "stand in line"?
