This question has been hindering in my mind for ages. Is it so important to follow the latest trend?

Hmmm...

I somewhat agree that it's "good" to keep yourself up to date with the latest "in" trends (if need be). At least it's good to start a conversation. But knowing doesn't mean there's a NEED to follow.

There are just too many trends around. Following each and every one of them (for example, fashion trends) can be a hazard and very expensive! Besides, what's so good about being the same as every one else?

I don't get it. Humans are given the right of free will. In other words, we're given the right to choose what we want. Thus, why linger among the shadows of others? Why not be the light and guide the way?
