Losing weight isn't that difficult but it is definitely NOT easy. There are basically 10 major factors (with reference to exercise.about.com) that might somewhat influence the whole "losing weight" thingy.

1. Your Attitude

The reason for you to want to lose weight somewhat affects the results and how long you can keep the weight off. If you're just doing it to be able to look a certain way (which is usually the case), it's not likely you can keep the weight off because you tend to give up after a while.

It probably wouldn't take that long to lose some weight to fit into a dress that you is a size or two from you. But it takes a lot of continuous hard work to maintain and be able to continue wearing that dress.

2. Your Workouts

Living in this somewhat fast pace society, time is of the essence. The problem with working out is that if you don't do it consistently, you can't lose the inches. Yes, it's possible to lose weight through diet alone, but you'll likely hit a plateau.

3. Your Eating

There are so many different kinds of delicacies. Food is simply irresistible. If you're thinking of losing weight by your food intake, instead of crash dieting you should just replace unhealthy foods with healthier ones. This way your body system won't go on strike and you will be able to maintain it for a much longer period.

Unfortunately with food like that:

It's going to be tricky.

4. Your Lifestyle

Wanting a healthy lifestyle isn't just talk and no action. You have to be willing to somewhat change your lifestyle. That said, I don't mean changing everything right away. But to kick start, you have to at least be open to new methods of doing stuff.

I'm not going to elaborate. Go think about it.

5. Your Surroundings

You can change yourself but you can't control the things around you - like the people.

6. Your Support System

The "support system" is mainly you're family, friends and such motivating you to move forward. The motivational support given is quite crucial, it defines how far you'd be willing to push the limits, prevents you from giving up, and somewhat your front line to temptations.

If everyone around you gives you the right kinda support you require, it's so much easier to lose the inches. But if everyone is tempting you with food that fattens you up. Well, that's really too bad for you.

7. Your Mental Health

I don't mean psychos (the mentally unstable) of course. We're talking about will power here.

Will power is really crucial when we talk about losing weight. With weak will power, the possibility of you resisting food, or wanting to exercise would be low. Only if you put your mind into it and keep with the programme, then you'll be able to succeed.

I obviously lack that kind will power.

8. Your Goals

Your goal is to lose weight. The question is, how much weight? It'd not ideal to set impossible goals cause you're more or less guaranteed to fail.

For example:

There's this particular dress you like a lot and want to wear it for a particular party in a weeks time. Unfortunately, you're a a size 6, and the last piece is a size 4. Thus, you set your goal to lose two sizes in a weeks...

That's a little unrealistic and not to mention unhealthy if you actually succeed.

9. Your Flexibility

What happens if you have to work late and you can't get to the gym? Or what if you get stuck in traffic and miss your fitness class?

There are numerous things that can happen in a day that can somewhat throw you off your route to "weight loss" success. The trick is to be flexible here. If you miss the gym cause you have to work late; go for gym the next day since you probably don't go to gym everyday anyway.

10. Your Willingness to Fail

No one is perfect or even close to perfect. You have to be willing to accept failure. Like me, I am sooo not a super model. But I'm still happy? Okay, I'm not that happy but I've tried and I've failed and I'm still trying.

Plus, if all else fails...

You can always consider California liposuction. And if you want to be prettier, you can even visit Los Angeles cosmetic surgeon and/or go for a Beverly Hills plastic surgery. Haha!
