Yesterday, September 11, 2007, marks the 6th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, New York (NY).
This incident has pain the hearts of many New Yorkers, but some leverage and benefit from it. But the topic here isn't about Rody Giuliani. It's about the memorial created in Second Life.
The video is a very imperfect glimpse of the memorial.
You'd be amazed how many were gathered virtually to pay their tributes to the victims.
I'm impressed by the creators of this virtual realm. Though the graphics aren't as fantastic as World of Warcraft or such, it still feels very much like reality.
Back to the memorial site...
It is a large square marble monument that has water in the middle.
Unfortunately, you can't exactly see the square-ness of it in this snapshot. But at least you see the water? ;x
Anyway...
The names of the victims of 9/11 are listed around the square on the walls of the monument. In one corner you can enter a walkway that displays all of the pictures of the victims.
It was only then that I realise how many lives were truly lost in this tragedy.
I go by the name Princessa (pronounced as Prin-ces-sa) online, you can also call me Sabrina or Princess Sabrina for that matter.

Love Liam’s work. He was in the original 2004 WTC memorial competition.

Both visions evolved, responded positively, to the oportunities available to design and express in materials that do not exist in Real Life — for example phantom textures, holographic solar systems, glow effects.
9/11 is many things, and many memorials.
I’ve said this elsewhere in solemn words…

All regards to all the builders of all the many memorials in Second Life, and to all the many, in all the worlds who have yet awakened from the fitful nightmare that shrounds their hearts, and seek some measure of comfort and hope.
If any memorial, if all of them combined, help but one heart rest easier, and look up again to hope, then our collective works are well worthwhile.
