I never thought planning a simple trip like going Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), would be such a drag.

Okay, I'll start from the very beginning...

Out of the blue, last Monday at work, I suddenly had this urge to go overseas for a holiday. I called my sister, Vanessa, to confirm her participation. And the next thing I knew it, I on the verge of booking the air tickets.

Okay, so I didn't exactly book the tickets there and then. In fact, I only made the bookings last minute, 2 days before we took the plane, on Friday, September 21, 2007. Kewl eh? :P

Anyway...

I saw a Jetstar advertisement in the TODAY newspaper and visited their website for more information.

*Blah, blah, blah*

Let me list the various possible choices:

Choice 1: Taiwan
Choice 2: Hong Kong
Choice 3: Star Cruise
Choice 4: Thailand
Choice 5: Vietnam

At the end of the day, due to cost, we picked the last choice, Vietnam.

Initially we wanted to take the 3D2N Free & Easy Ho Chi Minh City Air Package (3 days 2 nights) package. But after consulting Stephen, I decided to book the air tickets and hotel, separately.

After doing the maths, it's official!

At practically the same price, instead of going for just 3D2N, by booking separately, we could make it a 4D3N (4 days 3 nights) trip! That's like 24 hours extra time to spend in Vietnam. It makes a hell of a difference okay!

*Blah, blah, blah*

I cannot believe it, but after going through like 10+ websites, I ended up booking directly from Que Huong - Liberty (recommended by Stephen) hotels' somewhat official website. Geez.

I don't really understand why their hotels are so close to one another. Ah well...

Cost for air tickets: SGD1,216.00
Cost for hotel: USD336.00 (~SGD510.00)
Total cost: SGD1,726.00

The "Cost for air tickets" (for 4 people - me, my sister, her boyfriend and her good friend) includes ticket price, air port tax and travel insurance.

Taking the rough "Total cost" figure of SGD1,726.00 and dividing it by 4 people. The cost for each person would be roughly ~SGD435.00.

PS: By the way, you can get the travel insurance for the elderly if you happen to be above 65. Just in case you're wondering.
