There's a lot of buzz these days about having a "Brand Platform". You may have heard the term, but aren't sure what it means. Don't worry! You're not the only one!
Geez! Even within the Advertising Industry, you'll find disagreement over its definition. What one guru calls a "Brand Platform" another calls a "Corporate Identity".
Regardless of what you call it, you will still need it!
A Brand Platform or Corporate Identity (CI) is the "persona" of a corporation which is designed to accord with and facilitate the attainment of business objectives, and is usually visibly manifested by way of branding and the use of trademarks.
Simply put, your "Brand Platform" or "Corporate Identity" is what your brand stands for.
It is somewhat a strategic statement or set of statements that encompass who your company is, what it does, how it plans to succeed, and why it is unique or different. Although brand platforms vary from company to company, most consist of the following basic elements:
1. Mission
2. Identity Attributes
3. Value Proposition
4. Tagline and/or Byline
5. Brand Story
In general, this amounts to a Logo and supporting devices commonly assembled within a set of guidelines.
These guidelines govern how the identity is applied and confirm approved colour palettes, typefaces, page layouts and other such methods of maintaining visual continuity and brand recognition across all physical manifestations of the brand.
The Logo is one aspect of the brand of a company or economic entity, and the shapes, colors, fonts and images are usually different from others in a similar market. Logos may also be used to identify organizations or other entities in non-economic contexts.
Logo Design is commonly believed to be one of the most important areas in graphic design, thus making it the most difficult to perfect.
So...
Upon setting up a new company, the first thing that comes into mind would be the "How to Design a Logo Myself?"
Reason being - Engaging a designer to do it, would be rather costly.
When you start up, every cost factor can make a crucial difference. But not having a "Logo" may actually affect the business start up as well.
Thus, I would say that having a "Do It Yourself Logo Design (DIY Logo Design) Guide" of some sort, would seriously come in handy, esp. for those with minimum financial means.
In fact, a rebranding in the future (near or far), maybe a good marketing/promotional move as well.
Who knows, it might hit the headlines of the daily papers if your new established enterprise actually creates the necessary buzz within the industry?

The brand platform is a document that encompasses the many components upon which the brand is built. It is a way to focus these diverse elements so your brand can be consistent and relevant to the stakeholders you wish to relate to. Once prepared and approved at the very top management level, the platform should be used as a guide for all branding decisions, strategic and creative. It will also become an integral part of your company’s strategic plan.Developing the brand platform will mean borrowing some elements from your existing strategic plan, beginning with the mission statement.

Apart from logo, there is another aspect of making a good brand name. High page ranking also matters, which can be achieved by making good relevant links. There are several strategies to make your website more important.

a website with a logo, that some claim is a CI, isn't really any corporation at all, it's just another 'wanna be' kind of a website. most, although not all, come without any real plan for their website and end up selling it eventually, others, few of us, focus on the real idea behind the website, and how a corporate identity can help our firm stand upfront the others.

Once you have your logo in place one of the best ways to promote your company is to get custom flashing pins with your logo design. You can design the shape, color and number of lights on the pin and get them for around a dollar or less each. They are incredible for trade shows. You can find all the info here:

best of luck

99Designs is a pretty good resource if you're looking for logo design and they're awfully cheap. I've heard of very few complaints from work received.
It's extremely important to have and maintain a positive corporate identity online...good post.

A professional logo designer will probably save a person time, That person can either do the logo together with a client or by him/her self.
A good logo gives good marketing, place it on clothes, promotional items, banner stands, a highly visible company logo will receive recognition.
When it comes to promotional items clothes will give much visualization and pens as well as a pen can travel many miles from where first given.
Banner stands, or simply just banners will work very good for some products and services as well.
