Hasn't this debate been going on for like... I don't know... "Forever" perhaps?
It's really hard to decide between sticking to a PC platform or switching over to the so-called "dark side", Mac.
Here's the dilemma I'm facing.
I've been an ASUS supporter since 6-7 years (or more) ago. From the I-cannot-even-remember-the-model, W5 and W7 series to well... Even the Eee PC. Which of course, may I add, I totally love!
(It's all about the pearl white casing.)
Point is, I've never failed to stick to ASUS even after all the technical difficulties I've suffered - Hardware conflict, HDD crash, software conflict.
(In other words, I've been a undying PC user as well. Though I had a Mac as well, that's on the side though. Always the mistress never the wife.)
This is called loyalty I'm telling you. It's something that I can clearly say I totally LACK. Which is one of the reasons why I'm not sure if I should dismiss this one.
Still...
The MacBook (NOT THE MACBOOK AIR) is totally calling to me and affordable right now. (After all, I paid like 3.2k for a W5F a couple of years back.)
Though in terms of hardware, the Mac is like totally inferior to a PC of it's price range. But, I don't know, after reading one review after another, I can't help to agree that a Mac is more likely a Designer's Choice. Not that a Designer that uses PC is, in any possible way, inferior.
So tell me. What do you think?

I'm opened to other models as well but preferably ASUS though.

Definately a Mac, no question!! I made the switch to a 13 inch iBook 5 years ago and have never looked back - now use 17 inch G4 Powerbook. I have slowly converted other family members to the new iMac.
The latest MacBook Pros have excellent software pre-installed - iLife 08 has photo, video and music creation software that would cost hundreds of $ to buy for a PC. Also, you do have the option to run Windows programs using bootcamp if you can't do without them.

If you are looking for a switch and to have some new environment to work in, get a Mac.
If you want to stick to Windows and already convenient with it, get the Asus.
List down what you do normally with your laptop, what softwares you use the most, did you play games, and what you are really looking for.
From there, you can decide more. If all the softwares and platform is not the matter, get a Mac. :P
Mac is always my first choice ever since the switch I did 1.5 years ago. And I am happy I switched over. Not much maintenance and worry needed. Just my two cents. Cheers..
