If I've not mistaken, I took part in this through one of Nuffnang's ads.
I didn't notice it until my mum asked what Sybase 365 Pte Ltd was, and that's when I decided to go online to do a search.
To my horror this is what I saw,
And it WASN'T just in one forums but many!
Apparently, as long as they send you SMSes you pay S$4/sms! And NO, it's not a one off thing. After you join, as long as they keep sending, whether you continue participating in the contest (as in answer the questions) or not becomes secondary - YOU STILL GOTTA PAY THEM for sending you the questions! zZz
Paying to send out SMSes is understandable, but WTH paying to receive them is just... UNACCEPTABLE!
Talk about reading the fine prints...
So, for those who are still paying for this and have no idea how to unsubscribe from it, this is how:
... To stop service? text STOP to 72233.
Take note of this,
This is an ongoing subscription quiz service until user quits.
And,
Subscription: you will receive 3 SMS questions per week, S$4 per SMS question received.

I think like any telco. they are just a sms/mms sending/forwarding company. The ultimate profit maker are those brain teaser companies. For example, shows like American Idol or any charity shows have telcos. charging for messaging bill. It's the same concept.

Seriously people, you are too blame for the troubles you caused by your own doing. Didn't you first sms in yourself first? You are educated people and shouldn't blame the company for not reading the fine print, isn't it?? Lastly, it is your own greed that make you opt in for the service. So stop complaining how you get cheat for your $$! Grow up!

got the same thing as you all had. I haven't realize whether it costs me or not...but, here is the story..i got it from facebook..then, i saw a brain teaser on my monitor..i keep goin on answerin all the questions..and somehow..they ask for my mobile ph...i write down, and here comes trouble..my mobile keep ringing...it also says, if i want to unsubscribe, i simply sms the number by writing STOP. it never stops. i called to stop. it still does not stop.
They keep promising to stop within 48 hours and don't. I hate them, this is not the way to make money. I have been ripped off by these grubs $6.60 per message.
why don't we complain to communications ministry watchdog or some regulator. service provider like singtel are party to this. they too get some commission.
March 4, 2009 - 6:39pm
I'm not sure if we can actually "complain" since we agreed to the terms and conditions when entering this whole mess :(

Hi all, I just realised about this stupid Sybase 365 shit only this month. Cos I realised that my HP bill have been on the high side even when i started to cut down on my calls and smses. On average, they have been charging me S$40 every month since April. Thats like S$360, and thats hell alot of money for a HP bill... Have any of u guys tried to get a refund? I think we all should get together and get our precious money back. Just contact me @ lostsoulemptiness@hotmail.com.

Yes, me too. But what we all have forgotten is that we all signed up to win the Mac Book Air, but it seems that they also have other contests to win the Nintendo Wii which I am not bloody interested so why charge me for something I do not want, since they claim we are the ones who actually initiated this deal. So why don't we all collectively get together and get CASE to look into this matter.
