I am totally FREAKED OUT!
Geez. I don't even know how to begin explaining what happened. It's just sooo... Freaky!
/me calming down...
Here's what happened.
After falling asleep on the sofa, I decided to go back into Teddybear's room to take a nap. I'm not sure what woke me up, but after an hour or two, something did. The problem with this whole "waking up" part was that... I couldn't, literally!
I was wide awake and my eyes were open (or at least I think they were), but strangely my vision seemed a little blurry.
Initially I thought it was probably due to the darkness, so I wanted to get up and switch on the lights. But when I actually tried to get up, I couldn't! I was like totally immobilised! >.<
I couldn't see clearly, I couldn't move, and to make matters worst... I couldn't even scream! (I was screaming in my head, but no words were coming outta my mouth.)
I could hear what the bear and his siblings were talking about outside, so I knew I wasn't dreaming.
I was totally panicking. I felt helpless.
After about half and hour or so, things starting going to normal. First my vision starting returning, and slowly I was able to move again.
Once I fully regained total consciousness, I ran out to the living room to look for my dumb bear.
...
The bear says there's some scientific explanation for this - something-something paralysis.
What do I think? Hmmm...
I don't give a shit as long as it doesn't happen again. Waaay too freaky.
PS: This kinda happened sometime back but I kinda forgot to publish the entry.

Sleep paralysis is pretty common, but it's still scary when it happens to you. It's odd someone else mentioned somebody mentioned someone going to Dubai because it seems like that's the only place it ever happens to me, when I'm working in Dubai.
Coincidence or more paranormal activity? =)

2 explanations.
a) A ghost was sitting on top of you. That's the old wives tale of spirits and folk lore.
b) Astral projection. That's the book I was carrying around and reading in the silly KTV room that I stupidly agreed to go to cos Jack was leaving for Dubai.
Basically, your state of consciousness leaves your body, and that happens in cases of extremely relaxed state where your various levels of being are seperated into different planes. Pretty esoteric stuff that people would scoff at but I'm just interested.
It used to happen to me when I partied like a crazy animal in the past. You lacking sleep? Stress? These used to trigger my bouts of sleep paralysis too.
Oh and sleep paralysis is the common term people use.. =)

Forgive me, but I can't help laughing at your naivete.
What you experienced has nothing to do with the paranormal. It is called "Sleep Paralysis" in the scientific community.
When you sleep, your brain "paralyzes" your body to prevent you from acting out your dreams.
Sleep paralysis occurs when the brain awakes from a REM state, but the body paralysis persists. This leaves the you fully conscious, but unable to move. In addition, the state may be accompanied by terrifying hallucinations.
I hope this will clear your misconception. =)
