The life of a journalist and a blogger sometimes clashes but it's not always for the worst.

I received two invitations from Sony Vaio as a blogger and a journalist to attend the launch of Sony Vaio P (Pocket style PC) event held at The Salon, Level 1, National Museum, 93 Stamford Road.

Unfortunately, I kinda overlooked my blogger's invite and responded to the wrong person - resulted in Priss's RSVP to be lost in mail (virtual one that is). It all ended well of course. The people (mainly Audrey) from Hill & Knowlton were kind enough to allow her entrance and we both had a great time.

Like most media events these days, apart from just journalist from various publications (Gadget3, Catalog, T3, Stuff and etc) attending, bloggers were invited as well - ECL, Tech65, Nadnut, DK, Peggy, IZ Reloaded and etc.

The event kicked off with the emcee making an introduction speech. Thereafter, she introduced the guest speakers.

All went pretty well. The only hilarious part was when the female guest speaker said, "When I first laid eyes on the Vaio P, I fell in love with it."

Nothing wrong with the statement of course, in fact, I too fell in love with it at first sight. But the tone and the way she said it sound seriously unnatural. Then again, aren't all scripted content, "unnatural" eh? Can't possibly expect everyone to be perfect deejays right? - No offence of course.

The highlight of this event would be none other then the "runway show" where local models walked down the red carpet with the Vaio P in their hands.

One of the models is a blogger - June (her photo above). She's a good friend of Peggy's so I had a distinct impression of her - she also attended the Philips bloggers event back in November.

After the speech, the "runway show" and photo-taking session with one of the speakers together with the models…

It was time to play around with the Sony Vaio P and grab some food. I'll probably blog about the food at Family of Bears on a later date - with no feedback from the bear that is.

What do I think of the Sony Vaio P? With not much interaction (based on first impressions) I'd have to say that I'm IN LOVE with it! That said, (based on stats) it's probably no different from the rest of the sub-notebooks in the market, and at the price range of SGD1,299 to SGD1,699, it is the most expensive sub-notebook current.

I'm superficial I guess. What I like best about this baby its mobility and design - light, sleek, and totally fashionable. It cannot go wrong with any outfit, and it fits perfectly in any lady's handbag - it is after all only about 600g, half the weight of my ASUS Eee PC 901.

Oh Sony, dear Sony... Would you please give me a Vaio P? >.<

/me like the white one, but the red is kewl too?

(Back to reality) Admittedly, this isn't the most glamorous event I've attend or the most exciting. However, the experience I received from the product is, without a doubt, priceless. The Fujitsu U2010 sub-notebook maybe smaller and about the same weight, but the fit of the keyboard and the design is no where close to that of a Vaio P.

I have one complain, unfortunately. Since I received two invitations, shouldn't I get two goodie bags too? Hurhur. Oh well, I am but one person after all, even though I'm representing myself and my publication. (I'm just kidding by the way.)

PS: Oh yes, there's just one more thing! I cannot afford the Sony Vaio P (unless they decide to give it to me on a long term loan or something like that). Sadly, everything about it is fancy, even its price tag.

PPS: More images coming right up!
