Pardon me, as expected, I blogged about the event at Gadget3.com yesterday, but didn't have the time to blog about it here. Hurhur. Oh well.
Attending Sony Ericsson's media event yesterday was definitely the best choice I've made this week. Not only did I get to learn more about the PlayNow services, I had the opportunity to get a first hand experience at their innovative kiosks, played with a couple of their latest mobile phones, and take the sailing boat out for a spin (with a little extra tasteful sight on the side)!
The event was held at One°15 Marina Club at Sentosa Cove. The afternoon started off with a press conference - Jamie Yeo was the emcee and there were four other speakers from Sony Ericsson at hand to answer questions from the media.
The compound was a little congested, with quite a large amount of media representatives from various publications and quite a handful of bloggers as well. Due to the limited amount of space, some of us were left without seats and had to just stand around. It wasn't too bad, honestly, since the press conference wasn't that long.
The gist of this media event was to basically introduce the new features of the PlayNow service in this region and the "world's first-of-its-kind" content delivery service made for mobile entertainment users - allows them to download full-length movies, TV series, gaming titles and thousands of DRM-free music tracks directly onto their mobile phone.
Unfortunately, this service is exclusive to Sony Ericsson users.
They may explore the possibility of offering the service to other brands of mobile phone users but nothing is confirmed yet. Then again, if you really think about it, why should they? I'm sure the other big players in this industry are making plans to plant their seeds in this area as well, so they'd probably not be depending on Sony Ericsson to being generous anyway - I may be wrong of course.
After the press conference, we were divided into smaller groups and led to different rooms located on the second floor.
In the first room, Sony representatives presented a range of mobile phones and their highlighted features to us.
And did a short "demonstration".
In the second room, there wasn't a presentation. Instead, Sony representatives and models were stationed around to provide information on the phones displayed. A blogger friend of mine (Fidelis) happened to be one of the models for the event and I had the honour of getting her to pose with a phone to take a photo for Gadget3.com, which I'm sharing with you here as well.
Pretty eh? I meant the phone by the way, although I'd have to agree that the model isn't too bad either.
After that segment, we had some food, a couple of drinks, a little chit chat here and there, and the event more or less ended - for most at least. Fortunately for me (and Jaclyn of course), our adventure just began!
Due to limited seating, only a handful of media reps had the honour of taking the ride out to sea. Fortunately for us, we were one of those luckily chaps.
As told, we gathered back at level one, 5pm (not so) sharp and we were then led to the sailing boat that we were going out to sea with. It was a pretty long walk but most definitely worth the while.
We were told that the ride may be a little bumpy and if we didn't have a waterproof camera, it would be best for us to leave them behind with the PR and Sony reps. Feeling a little worried for my little pink camera and the rest of the gadgets in my bag, I decided not to take it along with me for the sailing experience - not the best choice I've made that day honestly.
Press conferences, presentations, product showcasing and so on, these were basically what most events consist of. What separates this event experience from the many others is perhaps the sailing experience. However, although it is probably the most exciting part of the event; it isn't exactly all that relevant to the agenda.
Now, I'm sure most of you are anxious to find out which sailing boat we took, what happened on board, and so on so forth, righto? Hurhur. Let's just say, that's another tale for another time. :P~
PS: Honestly, the main reason why I need to leave it for another time is because I kinda misplaced my mobile phone's driver installation disc so my notebook can't seem to read the data from my phone. And unfortunately, I don't have a microSDHC card reader, so my attempt to move the data into my (new) 16GB microSDHC card (the one that SanDisk "gave" me) and read it from there didn't work either. In conclusion, I CANNOT EXTRACT THE DATA OUT! zZz.
PPS: Pity Priss and Peggy wasn't able to attend the event with me...
PPPS: More images on its way!
I go by the name Princessa (pronounced as Prin-ces-sa) online, you can also call me Sabrina or Princess Sabrina for that matter.
