This is a weird topic, I know. I've wanted to write this for quite sometime but never really got down doing so.
I don't consider myself part of any "blogging community" or such, blogging has always been an interest and something I enjoy doing. My point is... Okay, I don't really have one for this statement. Hurhur.
My first impression of EastCoastLife (ECL) was bad, very bad in fact. I never had an idol or such in the "blogging society" or such, Veron had always been the blogger that I admire most. Which is why I feel that even if given the opportunity I would not want to really get to know her, it would somewhat change my perfect picture of her as an amazing blogger. It's like if Priss became super duper famous as a blogger or whatever, I would still think she's just Priss, you know what what I mean?
(Getting back on track) More than a year ago, ECL blogged about something (that I don't want to bring up) and it somewhat implicated Veron in the "situation". I was very much upset by it, and wrote something in her defence as well. Admittedly, I was bias. I knew nothing about ECL, what was presented to me and based purely on that, I jumped into the conclusion that she was a really, really, really mean lady.
Sometime back ECL blogged about something else (which I'm not going to elaborate on either) and my "name" was mentioned and labelled in association with a "community" which I've never considered myself part of (I participate but that's about it).
This was brought to my attention by a friend and thus, I commented in her blog. The results were pretty bad. My intentions were not offensive of any sort, it was more of a clarification that I do not with to be associated with the "community". But I guess it was misunderstood and I got a really bad slap across my (virtual) face.
Only then did I realise that she remembered and actually hold a grudge against me. (Flattered really, I didn't think she would have read it to begin with.)
I'm not an active commentator in blogs, forums or such (I just blog). Thus, I didn't really monitor the advancement of that after I made my piece.
Up to that point, my sentiments toward this lady was still - bad.
A couple of months back; I accompanied nadnut for one of her gazillion invites to enjoy an afternoon of pampering, compliments from Fr3b.com. I was working for a lifestyle (kinda) portal back then, so it was a pretty good article to write about, thus, I as granted permission to tag along from my boss.
There I met ECL face to face for the very first time.
The room was pretty small; therefore it could only accommodate "that many people". Fidelis was late, so there was only the people from the spa, the people from Fr3b.com, nadnut, myself and (the) ECL.
Initially I wanted to just ignore her (ECL) completely, so as not to engage in an argument of any sort. But as I watched her engage in conversations with the people around, suddenly my impression of her changed. She didn't seem like she was that bad or mean. In fact, she is just like any other individual - pretty friendly.
After some thought and considerations (and the constant reminder from nadnut to be a little more open, friendly and approachable), I decided to walk over and make peace. Admittedly, I was at no position to pass judgement on a situation, that I wasn't exactly involved in, to begin with. And she didn't seem like an unreasonable person, in person, at all.
I walked forward, apologised, and explained why I did what I did. Instead of biting my head off like most would have expected, she gracefully accepted and smiled.
There are all sorts of people in this world; you can't really judge a person entirely by what is written in his/her blog. Furthermore, what is usually written in an entry may only be something felt at that particular point of time.
It takes a little time, and quite a bit of effort to really know a person for who they truly are.
That said, what I'm trying to bring across is that, past issues should be left in the past. Although it may not appear to be a good idea, or it seems to be that there are hidden agendas for a cause. I believe that it is of good intentions to begin with.
Perhaps an individual's method may not be the most suitable at times, but at the end of the day if it ends up benefiting the whole, why not be open and give it an opportunity of growth.
PS: Still think of what images are suitable for this... Hmmm...
