As a full-time writer/journalist and a when-I-please blogger, I am always on the move. I write/blog at any/every given opportunity. With that said, having a device that allows me to write/blog on the go helps makes things more productive for me. And that is why I turn to sub-notebooks.

When considering the "perfect" sub-notebook to "get", mobility is a major factor.

Admittedly, in terms of weight, the Fujitsu U1010 and the Sony Vaio P are by far the lightest sub-notebooks available in the market right now - I personally prefer the Vaio P. Unfortunately, with their price tag, the extra weight is perhaps less of a burden to carry?

When I first laid eyes on the HP Mini 1000 (non-limited black edition) I was pretty impressed with its sleek exterior feel - not as beautiful as the Vaio P but beats many others.

I always had the impression that looked pretty much "the same" as the HP Mini 2133, only to learn that I had been mistaken when I saw DK carrying it at the HTC event a week or two back.

Both models have their similarities, but the Mini 1000 was by far better looking (slimmer too) yet probably not less powerful.

Considering the overall build of this sub-notebook, the keyboard is probably the most eye-catching element (to me that is).

The touch and feel of the keys are superior to that of my Asus Eee PC. The mistyping of letters is less likely to happen with its larger key surface.

Before the Mini 1000, the Vaio P was the way to go for me - saving up to buy it actually. However, with the existence of the Mini 1000, I'm starting to have second doubts.

The Vaio P is lighter than the Mini 1000 by approximately 400g, which makes it easier to carry about. However, the extra weight isn't for nothing. The Mini 1000 boasts a superior screen size, offering a 10.1-inch to the Vaio P's 8.9-inch.

Now, the only thing that the Mini 1000 falls short of the Vaio P is... Style?

With the Vivienne Tam edition, that "problem" ceased.

The HP Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam edition is truly in a league of its own - a piece of art with the combination of technology.

These days it's all about being fashionable, even when we talk about gadgets.

Although a saying goes, "beauty is skin deep", but lets get real - why not have the best of both worlds when possible?

Now, the showdown between my two top choices so far:

Sony Vaio P vs. HP Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam
Weight: Vaio P (Mini 1000 VT compensates with larger screen size)
Design: Mini 1000 VT
Price: Mini 1000 VT

The result is pretty clear, the HP Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam edition has won the battle over the Sony Vaio P.

Need I say more about why "I want this HP designer laptop"?
