Before I fell ill, lying somewhat dead on my bed for three days straight, I attended a Canon bloggers event launching a range of new cameras and camcorders.
This was the first Canon bloggers event organised by Ogilvy (Glenn, Noel, Tania, funky Pat Law and Kai Lynn) held at the Screening Room on Ann Siang Hill.
I was late, no thanks to my evil sister who stood me up. It was rush hour and the roads were congested. I had to make two big rounds because I miss the first turn due to the road works. I really hated that road - not just saying that, I mean it.
Anyway, after an hour of struggling, I arrived at Ann Siang Hill only to find that I ran out of coupons. Geez, it seriously wasn't a good day for me. Getting screamed at during work, stood up by my sister, stuck in traffic congestion, and now this! The day couldn't have gone any worst.
As we walked into the room, the same one I watched the McDonald's horror film, we were each given an 8GB SDHC memory card (class 4 okay - fastest is 6) and 1GB thumbdrive placed inside a cute action figure by Canon - who would have thought that Canon would go into merchandising too!
Now, this was something different, refreshing really. I've been to numerous camera launches in the past six months, but this was the first time someone actually came up with this idea.
What am I talking about? I'm talking about the SDHC card. The idea is simple yet it made perfect sense. Cameras and camcorder (the new range at least) uses memory cards to store data. Giving the memory card to us before the event and allowing us to slot it into the newly launched cameras and camcorders to take photos/videos was pure genius! I'm pretty sure it's the folks at Ogilvy that came up with the idea. They're just full of bright ideas.
Honestly speaking, I wasn't here to see Wong Lilin (Canon ambassador); I came because it was Glenn who invited. Nonetheless, it was an interesting sight to see a celebrity speak to the audience and interact with us as though she wasn't one.

Enough chit-chat, I now present to you the new range of Canon cameras and camcorders!
A total of 28 cameras, 8 different models - Canon 500D, Canon IXUS 95 IS, Canon PowerShot A480, etc.
Which is my favourite model?
Figures eh? It's the only one with iPod-nano-like hot pink! All Canon cameras take excellent pictures anyway, might as well pick the one that I'd love starring at, right?
This shot is sooo pretty, I had to show it.
Oh my god! I totally forgot about the camcorders!
Okay, thank god they included the press releases – "Canon Introduces LEGRIA in Singapore with Seven New Camcorders".
I'll update the images of the camcorders later. Lazy right now.

That is agreat idea. i like the fact you get to use the cameras then see how good the photos area. I hope they let you keep the card and for the amount it cost them for the cards it will help make sales from everyone who used them.

You mean only one unit passed around during the event right? If so... Should be. I only remember seeing one lying around.
