Living in Singapore makes it difficult to see fashion the way it should be. We have our Prada, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and etc. We even have our very own "Nu Ren Jie" (Bugis Street). Unfortunately, we only have one season year round, therefore, seasonal fashion trends are big no-nos.

Imagine wearing this:

On the streets of Orchard Road. You'll probably get a heat stroke. Even at night it's humid. Come to think of it, it's HOT 24/7 here - a bad hot that is.

I love winter wear. I would LOVE to be able to live in a country that had all four seasons (or just winter). I remember visiting Korea last November 2008, the experience was remarkable - the country was amazing, the fashion was impressive. The girls dressed well, so did the boys. It's depressing really.

In Singapore, the only chance a fool would get to wear winter clothing would be if they spend all their time in a freezer and/or an ice-skating rink. Unfortunately, the big one (ice-skating rink) at Jurong East no longer exist. Even if it did, would you really wear fancy winter wear to an ice-skating rink?

If you don't mind the heat, or rather, you're able to withstand it, you could wear "that kinda clothes" during a cosplay event. Like the one that is currently going on at Suntec International Exhibition & Convention Centre (Hall 401 & 402).

But of course, you'd need to wear those really fancy kind, otherwise it really wouldn't look very cosplay-ie.

PS: I had no choice but to miss this cosplay event. It seems my costume isn't ready. Tsk.

Now, that's for winter, what about the rest? Well, we have summer practically all year round. So less is actually more. But no, I don't see us following any seasonal trends at all.

That said, fashion in Singapore has improved significantly along the years. People are more concerned of their appearance these days - yes even the boys men.

Fashion in Singapore is pretty versatile. It's difficult to really say "what's in what's not". Depending on the cliché you hang out with, the kind of clothes you wear differs.

For example, I prefer a more Korean-Japanese and/or vintage kinda style, my second sister goes black, and my youngest sister prefers ... Okay, she's a little hard to define.

While we try to make Singapore a more fashionable place, there will always be those in theirr black cargo pants and lime-green tees - can it get any worst? Oh wait, bright yellow underwear doing a stripteases. What was I thinking.
