I always thought that a bimonthly magazine is a magazine that come out once every two months - mainly because my magazine is supposedly a bimonthly and it comes out once every two months (thank god). It was only when I somewhat saw CHIC Magazine "calling" themselves a bimonthly magazine that I somewhat panicked. I'm certain that my boss has been calling our magazines, bimonthly, but I'm also certain that CHIC comes out twice a month. So if their both bimonthly... which is what, what is which?

It seems, bimonthly means both! According to oxforddictionaries.com:

"Unfortunately it means both! In the publishing industry, though, it's used fairly consistently to mean 'every two months', so that a bimonthly magazine is generally one that's issued every two months. The same ambiguity affects biweekly and biyearly. If you want to be absolutely clear, it's best to use a phrase such as 'twice a week' or 'every two years'."

I think I'm gonna just say my magazine comes out once every two months, just to be safe.
