Fujitsu U1010: Small and painful...

Justin dearest is helping my baobei install Windows 7 back in the office just now. Unfortunately, after installation, my baobei wasn't able to boot up.

By then, it was almost 10pm. Justin offered to bring my baobei home to try again. I didn't have another sub-notebook so I brought the Fujitsu U1010 home to play with.

The first problem I had with it was figuring out how to switch it on. Usually there would be a button to press, this had some sort of an push thingie. Read the rest of this entry »

HP Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam Edition Contest: I didn't win but I discovered...

The results are out and clearly I'm not jumping up and down right now. I didn't win the HP Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam edition sub-notebook.

I'm a little disappointed, but after reading the winner's contest entry, I had to admit defeat - they were most deserving. They were able to mix the elements of fashion and technology into one, which clearly I could not. Read the rest of this entry »

"I want this HP designer laptop because..."

As a full-time writer/journalist and a when-I-please blogger, I am always on the move. I write/blog at any/every given opportunity. With that said, having a device that allows me to write/blog on the go helps makes things more productive for me. And that is why I turn to sub-notebooks.

When considering the "perfect" sub-notebook to "get", mobility is a major factor.

Admittedly, in terms of weight, the Fujitsu U1010 and the Sony Vaio P are by far the lightest sub-notebooks available in the market right now - I personally prefer the Vaio P. Unfortunately, with their price tag, the extra weight is perhaps less of a burden to carry? Read the rest of this entry »

Sony Vaio P Launch Event: Two invitations, one goodie bag

The life of a journalist and a blogger sometimes clashes but it's not always for the worst.

I received two invitations from Sony Vaio as a blogger and a journalist to attend the launch of Sony Vaio P (Pocket style PC) event held at The Salon, Level 1, National Museum, 93 Stamford Road.

Unfortunately, I kinda overlooked my blogger's invite and responded to the wrong person - resulted in Priss's RSVP to be lost in mail (virtual one that is). It all ended well of course. The people (mainly Audrey) from Hill & Knowlton were kind enough to allow her entrance and we both had a great time.

Like most media events these days, apart from just journalist from various publications (Gadget3, Catalog, T3, Stuff and etc) attending, bloggers were invited as well - ECL, Tech65, Nadnut, DK, Peggy, IZ Reloaded and etc. Read the rest of this entry »

Asus Eee PC S101 - 'S' stands for Style!

Before I forget... Today was my first day on the job at Gadget3! And below is what I wore to work,

Woot! I don't have to dress like my mum!!! Hurhur.

Okay. Enough of that.

*Ahem* By the way, what's the difference between Ultra-Mobile PCs (UMPC) and "netbooks" again? I'm sooo out of touch.

Anyhow.

Not too long ago people were still going "gaga" over the not-so-new range of Asus Eee PCs. During my recent visit to Sim Lim Square (SLS) I glance upon the sight of the newly release Asus Eee PC S101 for, yes, the very first time! Read the rest of this entry »
